Conducted by Softlink on behalf of the school library sector each year since 2010, the Australian School Library Survey provides a national snapshot of the trends, pressures, and opportunities shaping school library services.
The 2025 survey captures responses from a broad cross-section of schools across Australia, including Government, Independent, and Catholic Education sectors. The findings and analysis explore key areas such as library budgets, staffing, access to digital resources, and other factors influencing how school libraries support teaching, learning, and reading culture.
The objective of the survey is to provide a credible evidence base that can be used to inform the sector and support advocacy for school libraries and library professionals, both with education decision makers and through industry associations and professional networks.
